Roede is a failure of a knight. He should be defending the world from the Death-worshipping Drest, but after being injured in the line of duty, he is sent home to face a worse fate: marriage. When he is unexpectedly chosen by the Goddess of Life to save them from Death's return, it's his last chance to prove that he's good for something. But the more time he spends in Drest - and in the company of its Divine Prince - the more he questions everything he has ever known.
